Biography
Born in 1985 in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, I hold a Master’s degree in Painting from the Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts (AMTII) in Plovdiv and a subsequent specialization in photography through the full three-year program and Masterclass at BECA – Photography Academy (2024), an educational partner of Magnum Photos.
My artistic journey began in the visual arts, with participation in group exhibitions throughout Bulgaria and Europe. For many years, mountaineering was my dominant pursuit — a discipline through which I achieved first ascents and earned the title of national champion in 2011.
In 2022, I transitioned to photography, discovering in it a potent language for both expression and healing. This shift led me toward high-contrast black-and-white documentary work — a medium through which I articulate personal narratives intertwined with urgent social realities. My photographic voice is direct, emotionally resonant, and socially engaged.
I currently work as an art teacher in one of the largest Roma schools in Bulgaria. These everyday encounters deeply inform my photographic practice, offering an unfiltered view into communities too often marginalized.
I have participated in numerous international workshops and portfolio reviews led by leading contemporary photographers including Cristina de Middel, Olivia Arthur, Rafal Milach, Alberto García-Alix, Peter van Agtmael, and Bieke Depoorter. Over the past two years, I have been part of several Magnum Photos workshops focused on long-term documentary projects, personal storytelling, and exploring contemporary social landscapes.
